Adhyāya 9 — Rāja-Vidyā-Rāja-Guhya Yogaḥ
The Royal Wisdom and the Royal Secret · 34 verses
Overview
from Q&A with KnAKṛṣṇa now confides the “king of sciences and king of secrets” to the uncavilling Arjuna. He declares the great paradox of immanence and transcendence: the whole world is pervaded by him, all beings rest in him — and yet he does not rest in them; behold his divine yoga. Presiding unmoved over his Prakṛti, he sends worlds forth and draws them back without being bound by the deed. He contrasts the deluded, who despise him in his human form, with the great souls who worship him single-mindedly; declares himself the sacrifice, the offering, the father and mother of the universe, immortality and death, being and non-being; welcomes the simplest offering made with love; and throws the door open to all — of every birth and station — who turn to him with undivided heart.
