from Q&A with KnA“I am the same to all beings; none is hateful or dear to Me. But those who worship Me with devotion are in Me, and I am in them.” The two halves must be held together. In himself the Lord is perfectly impartial — the sun that shines equally on all. Yet the devotee, by opening himself, comes into a felt mutual indwelling that the closed heart shuts out. The Lord does not change towards the devotee; the devotee changes towards the Lord, and so enters a nearness always on offer but not always accepted. Grace is impartial; reception is not.
