from Q&A with KnA“I know the beings of the past, the present and the future, Arjuna; but no one knows Me.” There is no arrogance in this; it is a plain consequence of what the knower is. The Self, being the very subject in every being, sees all as its own contents — as the eye sees all colours. But no object can turn round and grasp the subject that is seeing it; the eye cannot become its own object of sight. “None knows Me” — that is, none knows the Self as an object — precisely because the Self is what does the knowing in everyone. It is known only by being, not by grasping.
