Gita Press numberingTranslation
Swami Gambhīrānanda · follows Śaṅkara-bhāṣyaIndeed, all of these are noble, but the man of Knowledge is the Self itself. This is my opinion. For, with a steadfast mind, he is set on the path leading only to Me, who am the supreme Goal.

from Q&A with KnA“All these are noble, but the jñānī I hold to be My very Self (ātmā eva).” This is the highest thing Kṛṣṇa says of any devotee, and it is exact rather than extravagant. In the truly wise, the last separation between worshipper and worshipped has dissolved; there is no longer a “he” loving a “Me,” but one Self. To call the jñānī “My own Self” is simply to state that non-difference. Devotion, pressed to its limit, arrives at the same summit as knowledge — the two paths meeting at the peak (the synthesis of 5.4, restated in a warmer key).
