from Q&A with KnA“Thus has this knowledge, more secret than all secrets (guhyād guhyataram), been declared to you by Me; reflect on it fully (vimṛśya etad aśeṣeṇa), and then do as you wish (yathecchasi tathā kuru).” One of the noblest verses in all scripture. Having poured out the highest teaching, K does not command obedience; he hands Arjuna his freedom. “Ponder it entirely — and then act as you choose.” The Gītā respects the seeker’s autonomy absolutely: truth is offered, never imposed; the disciple is a free reasoner (2.49, 4.34), not a slave. This is why the demand for critical reflection (vimṛśya) precedes the grant of freedom — real choice requires real understanding first. God argues, illumines, and then steps back.
