from Q&A with KnA“Take refuge in Him alone, with all your being, Arjuna; by His grace you shall attain supreme peace and the eternal abode.” Here is the release from the “machine” of 18.61. Yes, the un-surrendered soul is whirled helplessly by Māyā — but the soul that takes refuge in the Lord who works the wheel steps, by that very surrender, off the mechanical round and into grace. Surrender is not one more turn of the gear; it is the exit from the gearing altogether. This is the answer to the apparent fatalism: bound by Nature if you cling to the ego, freed by grace if you take refuge.
