from Q&A with KnA“Whatever I said rashly, thinking You merely my friend — ‘Hey Kṛṣṇa! Hey Yādava! Hey comrade!’ — not knowing this greatness of Yours, in carelessness or in affection… for all that I beg Your pardon.” This is one of the most human moments in the Song. The revelation of who his friend really is fills Arjuna with retrospective shame at every casual liberty of their friendship. It dramatises 9.11 from the inside: he had despised the greatness by over-familiarity, and now, seeing the truth, he trembles at his own former ease. Yet note — the intimacy was not wrong; it was simply innocent of the whole truth.
