from Q&A with KnA“Therefore arise, win glory; conquering your foes, enjoy a flourishing kingdom. By Me alone are they slain already (mayaivaite nihatāḥ pūrvam eva); be you the mere instrument (nimitta-mātraṃ bhava), O left-handed archer.” Here the whole teaching on action lands on Arjuna’s exact situation. The doer’s delusion (3.27) is dissolved not by argument now but by sight: he sees that he is not the true agent; the killing belongs to Time. His task is only to be a clean instrument — to let the inevitable pass through him without the ego’s grasping or recoiling. This is niṣkāma karma shown, not stated: act, because the act is ordained; but know you are not its author.
