from Q&A with KnA1.46Did Arjuna give up?
Yes, he did. His mind has stormed itself into a knot with no way out. He has thrown away his bow and arrows and lost the will to fight. He is torn by contradictory emotions — love and hate, sympathy and ruthlessness, physical strength and weakness of heart, a sense of justice and a sense of the war's pointlessness. When his thoughts have taken up so much of his inner real estate, he becomes hopeless and helpless. Or so he thinks.
