from Q&A with KnA“Meditating with a mind disciplined by the practice of yoga, not straying elsewhere, one reaches the supreme, divine Puruṣa.” The Puruṣa here is not the individual soul but the Supreme Person — the Paramātman, luminous, ancient, subtler than the subtle, the ruler and sustainer of all (8.9). The distinction matters because the chapter uses “Puruṣa” at more than one level; here it is unmistakably the highest, the very goal towards which the dying yogi's whole attention is gathered.
