6.44Śabda-Brahman?

“Even the mere inquirer into yoga passes beyond the śabda-brahman.” Śabda-brahman is the “Brahman-as-word” — the whole body of Vedic sound, ritual and injunction; the audible, prescriptive scripture. Kṛṣṇa's striking claim is that even one who has only begun to inquire into yoga, drawn on by the momentum of past practice, is already carried past the level of mere ritual observance towards the wordless Reality the words were pointing at. It echoes 2.46: to one who has reached the reservoir, the vessel of prescriptions is surpassed — not despised, but outgrown.
