Translation

O Arjuna, that yogi is considered the best who judges what is happiness and sorrow in all beings by the same standard as they would apply to themselves.

हे अर्जुन ! जो पुरुष अपने समान सर्वत्र सम देखता है, चाहे वह सुख हो या दु:ख, वह परम योगी माना गया है।।

6.32Samatvam — the highest yogi.

“Who, by the likeness of himself (ātma-aupamyena), sees pleasure and pain everywhere as the same — him I hold the highest yogi.” Here is Samatva again, the BG's single cure applied to a new disease. The measure is exquisitely concrete: judge another's joy and grief by your own — want for others exactly what you want for yourself, and shrink from causing others exactly what you shrink from suffering. This one practice, taken to the end, contains the whole of ethics and much of the whole of yoga.
