from Q&A with KnA6.2Yogin and Sannyāsin?
“What they call renunciation (sannyāsa), know that to be Yoga; for none becomes a yogi who has not renounced saṅkalpa.” Kṛṣṇa collapses the supposed rivalry between the withdrawn monk and the active yogi. What makes a sannyāsin is not the ochre robe but the dropping of self-centred willing; what makes a yogi is the same dropping, carried into action. So the two names describe one inner fact from two sides. The outer form — robe or armour, forest or battlefield — is secondary.
