padārthaMeaning — Questions & Solutions
from Q&A with KnASince all action arises from an intention or desire in the mind (itself a product of the three guṇas of Prakṛti, see Canto 14), and all action is carried out by the mental or physical body (both parts of Nature, see Canto 13), the being in truth does nothing at all. It is a delusion to think “I do,” when in fact you do not. This delusion is the birth of the ego, aptly named the “I-doer.” You are only the witness of the drama unfolding before you — a spectator. Hence you need not cling to any prop or character; you sit through it, enjoy both comedy and tragedy, and then you leave.
